Stroll through the traditional market filled with tropical fruits, vegetables, orchids and spices. Admire the nearby Ulun Danu Temple, which appears to float on the serene waters of Lake Beratan. After lunch in a local restaurant, drive to the UNESCO-listed Jatiluwih Rice Terraces. Along the way, discover the centuries-old Balinese Subak irrigation system, a method that ensures even water distribution among farmers. This region in Tabanan, often called Bali’s granary, is famed for vast rice fields that that supply much of the island’s rice. There are plenty of chances to stop and capture the breathtaking landscapes. A refreshing break is included during the walk, with fresh coconut water served in the cool shade. The trek ends in Mengwi, where a traditional Balinese bale has been set up beside a stream in the rice fields. Here, a simple but flavourful local lunch awaits before the journey back to your hotel.

STREET BITES & ELEGANT EATS

Embark on a culinary journey fit for royalty through the vibrant streets of Yogyakarta. In the late afternoon, your driver and guide will collect you from the hotel and take you to a traditional café in the heart of the city to enjoy a delicious appetiser. Next, hop aboard a becak, a traditional cycle rickshaw, for a leisurely ride to a heritage restaurant set within a historic royal residence. Here, indulge in an authentic Javanese main course, served amid antique furnishings and an elegant, regal atmosphere. After dessert, return to the becak for a ride to Alun Alun Kidul, the lively South Square famed for its mystical twin Banyan trees.
