During the search for the perfect location for his project, the founder of the Resort came across this “lost” village in the North of Laos and it seemed somehow predestined. The ancient Buddha that watches over the valley (an interesting story in itself), the diverse multi-coloured ethnic groups that populate the region, a natural source of hot water thousands of years old flowing in a river rich in local life, facing a traditional salt mine, alongside a small mountain village: everything came together.
Of course we had to intelligently manage the creation of the Resort; it was with the agreement of the local village chief and the participation of the villagers that we completed several local development projects (maintenance of the river bank to avoid flooding, maintenance of the village roads, construction of a public bath, construction of a bridge, purchasing goods from the village, employing the local people and financing several village operations and festivals…)
Ignoring the practices of the large hotel industry and sensitive to the mutual interests of appropriate and controlled tourism, Muang La Resort has become an accepted participant in village life without sacrificing any of its quality.
