In several Southeast Asian countries, it is common for males (and some females) to spend some part of their lives serving as a Buddhist monk. This service can last anywhere from one day, up to a lifetime.
Three members of the ICS Travel Group team in Yangon, Myanmar recently entered the monkhood. Myo Thar Htet, Soe Moe Aung and Wunna Kyaw – all of whom work in the ICS Travel Group Operations department – celebrated their Novitiation Ceremony last weekend. During this ceremony, the “novice” monk has his head shaved.
Our team members will be monks for 7 days and then return to daily life.
