Myanmar Flood Relief

Update: 1 September 2015

As many people know, the country of Myanmar continues to struggle with the devastating effects of widespread flooding. Members of the ICS team in Yangon have returned to deliver additional donations to those affected.  Our Operations Manager in Yangon, Myanmar Kalayar Khin Khin Soe, led a group to Pein Sate and A Hta Yaung which is located in Danuphyu.

Donations included mosquito netting, flashlights, and candles, in addition to food, water, and cooking supplies.

As many people know, the country of Myanmar has been devastated by recent flooding, affecting more than 1,000,000 people and leaving more than 100 dead. Twelve out of fourteen provinces were affected, with many officially declared “disaster zones” and much of the nation’s crucial rice crop now underwater.

In a combined effort with a charity association from Singapore, Kevin Transportation Service, Up Rise Construction Company and the ICS Myanmar office staff and guides, we were able to visit Saetotetayar Myoe in the Magwe region and donate 155 bags of supplies to those who desperately needed relief.

Beginning the night of 7 August, 6 members of the ICS team drove 10 hours from Yangon to Chauk, and another 5 hours from Chauk to Saetotetayar Myoe.

We were able to donate the following items to Padauk Village, Laepyin Su Village, North Khaetayar and South Khaetayar Village:

  • mosquito nets
  • blankets
  • rice
  • oil
  • salt
  • soap
  • mats
  • tuna boxes
  • mineral water
  • torch lights
  • batteries
  • candles
  • lighters
  • sanitary napkins
  • glucose
  • snacks
  • fish paste
  • cloths
  • soft drinks

Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Myanmar during this challenging time. If you would like to donate please contact our office.
