The provincial capital Kanchanaburi is just 2-3 hours’ drive from Bangkok and is most famously the location of the Bridge over the River Kwai. A quiet walk across the bridge can be evocative while the nearby Thailand-Burma Railway Centre uses video, models, photographs and extensive displays to depict the notorious building of this railway.
