Insider Tips | Take a Great Train Journey in Vietnam

We asked our staff for their Bucket List trips – what have they always planned to do and where would they like to go on their ultimate adventure in 2014?

Raphael Kern – Assistant Manager, Myanmar wants to take a great train journey in Vietnam!

“Vietnam’s train system was built in the colonial period more than 100 years ago and is one of the best ways to see the country. It may not be the quickest but I’ve been told it is the most insightful – as the ‘real’ Vietnam is as much inside the train as outside. The stretch of track between Hoi An and Hue is said to be one of the most spectacular as it weaves over the Van Hai Pass and along jungle covered cliffs and through lush mountains. Our tour “Vietnam by Train – from Saigon to Sapa” travels virtually the entire length of Vietnam so would be a reasonably priced and hassle-free way to do this.”
