On Monday 28 August 2017, our ICS team in Bali delivered donated items to the Smile Shop, a secondhand shop operated by the Yayasan Senyum Indonesia foundation in Nyuh Kuning, Ubud. The sales of secondhand items will be used to fund craniofacial operations.
To commemorate Indonesian Independence Day, our team sponsored a charity program which enabled everyone to donate gently-used, unwanted items. For some of our team, this program was also an opportunity to practice the KonMari Method, a new approach to decluttering based on Japanese values. Belongings are acknowledged for their service and thanked before being discarded if they no longer spark joy. People are drawn to this philosophy not only due to its effectiveness, but also because it places great importance on being mindful, introspective, and optimistic.
We would like to thank our team for their kindness. Even small contributions mean a lot! For more information, please visit senyumbali.org.
