Ubud Art Villages and Monkey Forest

Spend half a day exploring Ubud, the cultural heart of the island; and the neighbouring villages, home to locally made arts and crafts.

The first stop is at the village of Celuk, popular for its gold and silversmiths. Pop into one of these home-industries to witness the skilled artisans creating intricate gold and silver jewellery. Take a look at some of the locally designed arts to admire the high levels of craftsmanship.

The next stop is at Mas village where the local people create beautiful carvings and statues from wood. Watch as the talented woodcarvers turn logs of wood into beautiful statues inspired by humanism and naturalism.

Take a walk through Ubud Monkey Forest, a sanctuary for the malevolent but photogenic long-tail macaques. Explore the forest and temple where mischievous monkeys roam freely.

At Ubud market, take some time to stroll among the colourful stalls of wood carvings, textiles, arts and crafts. Many of the handiworks are locally made in the nearby villages and make beautiful souvenirs to take home.
