Toy Train & Visit to Tea Garden

Tour Overview

Early in the morning meet your guide and drive to Ghum in Darjeeling and board the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. Also known as the Toy Train, this is the highest railway station in India and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Operating on narrow gauge tracks since 1880, the Toy Train is the perfect way to absorb the magnificent beauty of the mountains.

Enjoy the breathtaking landscapes as the heritage transport winds its way through the hilly terrain. On arrival in Darjeeling visit one of the tea plantations set in the shadows of the Himalayas. Tea was first introduced to Darjeeling in the mid-19th century by the British, and these sprawling tea estates are still reminiscent of that culture.

On the guided tour learn everything there is to know about the region and its world-famous tea. How did tea come to grow here, how does it affect the lives of the local people, and how do they oversee its production from planting to drying and selling? Of course, no tea tour is complete without a chance to sample the produce at a tea-tasting session.
