Pale turquoise, emerald green, pure white, even pink and orange – these are just some of the shades of jade, an ornamental mineral. Maha Aung Myay Jade Market in Mandalay is an entire market dedicated to this precious and spiritual stone. Jade is brought from Northern Myanmar to the market in its raw form. On rows of tables, the traders display their wares, ranging from large stones and flat cut slabs to cabochons, carvings and bangles. But be warned – this place is strictly for professional wheeler and dealers!
