Handmade Cotton Experience at Ban Lue Handicrafts

Tour Overview

Day 1 (Lunch – Dinner)
Journey to the remote and rural village of Ban Na Yaing Nua in the countryside around Nong Khiaw. Here an enterprising local will welcome you for an immersive experience into the traditional lifestyles and handicrafts of the Tai Lue ethnic group.

In this peaceful village, the women sit under the stilted wooden houses to do their spinning and weaving, creating a wide range of hand-spun and hand-dyed indigenous cotton accessories and accents. With the help of a master weaver, we’ll get hands-on and learn the entire process from cotton picking to hand spinning and loom weaving using traditional tools.

A stroll around the village will reveal the local way of life where the arts and crafts are very much alive.

After a home-cooked dinner, we’ll retire to our homestay – a basic but charming wooden house on stilts.

Day 2 (Local breakfast – Lunch)
Wake to the sounds of the village coming to life. After a local breakfast, we’ll continue with our hand weaving project. As a final step we’ll dye our scarves using natural products – a fantastic souvenir to take home!
