Tour Overview

The pungent smell of red chillies lingers in the air at Asia’s largest spice market. Located near the historic Red Fort at the western end of the Chandni Chowk, this ancient market dates back to the 17th century. Some shops still bear their ancient titles, when they were numbered rather than named.
Hundreds of traders gather in the market, many sitting cross-legged on the ground selling all sorts of fresh spices including saffron, turmeric, ginger and cumin, as well as flowers, fruit and vegetables.
From the open rooftop of Garodia Market, an old-fashioned arcade that seems lost in time, get a bird’s eye view of the surrounding area. From above, Fatehpuri Mosque looks ethereal, and so does the rest of Old Delhi. Watch the porters pushing barrows piled high with sacks of spices and breathe in the raw beauty of this ancient market.
