After a warm welcome your guide will explain how bamboo is a key part of Lao culture and how different bamboo products are made including fishing tools and musical instruments.

Then it’s your turn to try your hand at weaving a souvenir bamboo mat! Your professional and very patient teacher will guide you through the same techniques that have been used for hundreds of years.

Learn how to sharpen the knives and cut the bamboo into strips as well as the actual weaving process.
Bamboo also plays a vital role in everyday Laotian cuisine. In the hands-on demonstration you can assist the chef cooking up delicious dishes such as bamboo shoot soup, bamboo shoot steamed in banana leaf, bamboo shoot dip and sticky rice.

After the class relax on the terrace of the traditional Lao house and savour your culinary creations with views of the countryside. There’s also time to learn some fun Laotian games before returning to your hotel.
