Cooking on a Sleepy Island

Travel out of the tourist areas to visit sleepy islands and learn the secrets of authentic Southern Thai cooking.

Drive to a beautiful and natural area in the north of the island rarely visited by tourists. Deep in the mangroves your boat captain will be waiting in his traditional long-tailed boat. The first stop is at a powdery white beach on the small island of Koh Naka. This quiet beach is the perfect place for a refreshing dip in the ocean and an ice cold fresh coconut. Continue to the small island of Koh Yao Noi where you will be taken to a traditional wooden house situated amongst rice paddies and roaming buffalos. The house belongs to Khun Mina, an amazing woman who willingly takes on the many roles of hostess, cook, mother, grandmother and island chief. She will open the doors of her home and share with you the secrets of her family recipes. You will learn how to cook authentic Southern Thai delicacies as well as gaining an insight into the unusual life of a unique and hard working woman.
