Cycling from Ta Prohm to Banteay Srei
Spend a fun day exploring the stunning Angkor scenery and the ancient temples of Ta Prohm and Banteay Srei by bike.
After a short briefing head to the atmospheric temple of Ta Prohm, famously featured in the Tomb Raider film. Left to the clutches of the jungle, the limestone walls of the temple have been bound by the roots of massive trees. The jungle around the temple has not been cleared and it looks very much as it would have appeared when European explorers first stumbled across it.
After photographing the crumbling walls, piles of delicately carved stone blocks and towering trees, hop on your bicycle and set off through the beautiful Angkor scenery. On the way you will have a chance to chat with the locals, visit a butterfly farm, and see how ox-carts and palm sugar are made.
The next stop is at the ethereal Banteay Srei, said to be one of the most beautiful temples in all of Angkor. This 10th century temple is built from pinkish-red sandstone and the walls are covered in exquisitely preserved carvings of unusual delicacy. Upon arrival at Banteay Srei, you can opt for lunch before visiting the temple, or afterwards. From here, you will transfer by vehicle back to your hotel.
