Malimbu Sunset
Description
Set off in the afternoon driving inland to Gunung Sari Village. Stroll through Sidemen Afternoon Market to see the local women bartering and haggling for the best prices. All the goods sold in the market are brought from the villages set on the surrounding hillsides.
Continue driving uphill along winding roads. Stop at a small village on the roadside for a glimpse into the local life. The people here make a living from the land, growing coffee, jackfruit, coconuts, sago and brown sugar. Watch how brown palm sugar is produced from tapping sago juice (nira) followed by the boiling, shaping, and cooling processes.
From here carry on driving up the Baun Pusuk Pass. Admire the spectacular views over the valleys and gorges dotted with quaint villages and interspersed by rivers winding through tropical forests. Families of cheeky grey monkeys that live in the jungle often come down to the roadside to beg for food from passing motorists. Stop to take some photos and observe the monkeys from a distance. The drive continues through the villages of Bentek and Pemenang before reaching the coast with stunning views of the headlands and beach.
Finally reach Malimbu Hill with its magnificent panoramic views of Bali Mount Agung and the Gili Islands. Relax here for a while with a delicious fresh coconut drink as you watch the sunset. When the sun has disappeared, return to your hotel.
