Pink City Jaipur by Train
Tour Overview
Board the train, and then sit back and enjoy the scenery as you make your way to Jaipur. This Rajasthani city is rich in heritage and home to forts, palaces, castles and havelis. The origins of Jaipur can be traced back to the 18th century. It is known as the Pink City due to the extensive use of locally abundant pink plastered stone, painted in honour of the visit of the royal consort of Queen Victoria.
During your time in the city visit the impressive Amber Fort. Completed in the 18th century this majestic fort offers far reaching views and great photo opportunities of the city.
Wander through some of the markets and witness the bartering and haggling that is part of daily life. Visit Jantar Mantar, an outdoor observatory and architectural masterpiece. Be transported back in time at the City Palace, a famous landmark built by the Kachwaha Rajput rulers of Jaipur. And of course a visit to Jaipur would not be complete without seeing Hawa Mahal, also known as Palace of Winds and one of the most iconic buildings in Jaipur. A stop will be made for lunch in a local restaurant. Then it’s time to board the train for the journey back to Delhi.
